US Small Business Administration to cut 2,700 jobs

(Reuters) – The Small Business Administration said on Friday it will eliminate about 2,700 jobs, shrinking its workforce by 43%, as part of the Trump administration’s broader purge of the federal workforce.

The SBA, which provides resources to small businesses, said in a statement the layoffs were part of a reorganization aimed at “ending the expansive social policy agenda of the prior Administration, eliminating non-essential roles, and returning to pre-pandemic staffing levels.”

The SBA said its had a workforce of nearly 6,500 people.
